The original flat plate and the flat plate are called: single rolled steel plate and sheared steel plate respectively. When the steel plate comes out of the steel mill, it is rolled like a rolled toilet paper. The flat plate after these rolled steel plates are flattened by the machine is called “opened flat plate”. The steel mill originally shipped out of the factory as steel strips with a certain thickness, which are rolled into steel plates with a certain thickness and width according to user requirements. The original flat plate is rolled into the required size when it leaves the steel mill. The thickness of the flat plate is 1.5-20mm, and the material is Q235 and Q345. Generally, the original flat plate has strict dimensions, good performance, and high price; the open plate is relatively cheap, and the size varies slightly. The main use is on non-pressurized containers and storage tanks.
Advantages of open flat plate:
1. Low price and length can be freely determined
2. Convenient transportation, no need to consider the size of the steel plate;
3. Convenient material cutting, you can cut the steel plate size according to actual needs;
4. It can effectively save materials. For example, a storage tank needs 20 pieces of 6800x1500x6 steel plates. The market steel plate size is generally 6000, 8000, 9000 in length. If the market steel plate is used, there will be small pieces of surplus material. If the open plate is used, 6900 steel plates can be used directly, saving materials, which is also the biggest advantage. Especially for stainless steel materials, the effect of saving materials and reducing costs is very obvious.
Disadvantages of open plates:
The internal stress level of the open plate is high, so the dimensional stability is poor. With the different process parameters of the open plate, the distribution of internal stress is also different, and the bearing capacity will be different in different directions of the vertical length; and this bearing capacity is difficult to measure with general strength indicators. Therefore, the open plate will have a large welding deformation during welding, which is difficult to adjust, so the parts with high requirements for appearance quality cannot use the open plate.
