Description
ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube is an American standard medium-carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy seamless steel tube, corresponding to the domestic grade 42CrMo Seamless Alloy Steel Tube. It possesses high strength, high hardenability, and good toughness. This material is commonly used to manufacture high-load-bearing mechanical parts, such as drive shafts, gears, and oil drilling tools.
ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube and ASTM A519 GR.4130 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube are both American standard chromium-molybdenum alloy steel tubes. The main difference lies in the strength, hardness and weldability caused by the carbon content. 4140 has higher strength but is more difficult to weld, while 4130 has better weldability and a better balance of toughness.
Characteristics of ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube:
Tensile strength ≥950–1200 MPa (commonly ≥1020 MPa);
Yield strength ≥850–950 MPa;
Hardness: Pre-hardened state 28–32 HRC (ready to use directly without heat treatment), after tempering HB 229–269 or HRC 30–40;
Elongation ≥12–17%, Impact energy ≥63 J (20℃).
Applications of ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube:
1. Oil and Gas Industry: ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube is used in drill pipe, drill collars, casing hangers, wellhead equipment, high-pressure fittings, and deep well fishing tools (hardness ≤22 HRC when meeting NACE hydrogen sulfide corrosion resistance requirements).
2. Automotive and Rail Transportation: ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube is used in high-load transmission components such as drive shafts, half shafts, connecting rods, crankshafts, turbocharger gears, and locomotive traction gears.
3. Machinery Manufacturing and Mold Making: ASTM A519 GR.4140 Seamless Alloy Steel Tube is used in spindles, hydraulic cylinder barrels, pump shafts, motor shafts, clamps, high-strength bolts/nuts, injection/die-casting mold frames, and base plates.
4. Energy and Aerospace
