Description
5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is an aluminum-magnesium based rust-resistant aluminum alloy, available in H112/0/H24/H32 tempers, belonging to the 5xxx series of aluminum alloys. 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar possesses excellent corrosion resistance, moderate strength, and good weldability, and is widely used in shipbuilding, chemical, and transportation industries. 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is characterized by its low density and high fatigue resistance, making it suitable for long-term use in humid or marine environments.
The main component of 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is an aluminum (Al) matrix with magnesium (Mg) as the primary alloying element (approximately 5.8%~6.8%), supplemented with small amounts of manganese (Mn, 0.5%~0.8%) and silicon (Si, ≤0.4%). The addition of magnesium significantly improves the 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar’s tensile strength and corrosion resistance, while manganese helps refine the grain size and improve machinability. Other impurities such as iron (Fe) and copper (Cu) are strictly controlled to ensure stable material properties.
Mechanical and Physical Properties of 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar:
Strength Properties: The tensile strength of 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is approximately 315~410 MPa, yield strength ≥160 MPa, and elongation ≥15%, classifying it as a medium-strength aluminum alloy.
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent performance in marine environments and industrial atmospheres, especially resistant to seawater corrosion, requiring no additional coating protection.
-Processing Properties: Significant cold work hardening effect; plasticity can be restored through annealing; good weldability, suitable for processes such as argon arc welding and resistance welding.
-Physical Properties: Density approximately 2.7 g/cm³, high thermal conductivity, non-magnetic, and maintains good toughness even at low temperatures.
Applications of 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar:
Shipbuilding: Used for ship hull structures, decks, bulkheads, etc., extending service life due to seawater corrosion resistance.
Chemical Equipment: Used for lining storage tanks, pipelines, and reactors, resisting acid and alkali corrosion.
Transportation: Applied to the body frames or decorative parts of high-speed trains and automobiles, balancing lightweight and safety. In the construction industry: as a roofing and curtain wall material, it is suitable for the high humidity climate of coastal areas.
