7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bars
7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bars are ultra-hard aluminum alloys belonging to the aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy family. Product forms include aluminum rods, hexagonal bars, and square bars. They are primarily used in aerospace, automotive, defense, and sporting goods manufacturing, and are also used in the manufacture of aircraft structures, molds, mechanical equipment, and high-strength components.
Description
7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bars are ultra-hard aluminum alloys belonging to the aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy family. Product forms include aluminum round rods, hexagonal bars, and square bars. They are primarily used in aerospace, automotive, defense, and sporting goods manufacturing, and are also used in the manufacture of aircraft structures, molds, mechanical equipment, and high-strength components.
7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bars support various heat treatment states, including O, T6, T651, and T7351. The 7075-T651 aluminum alloy is suitable for manufacturing aircraft frames, landing gear, engine components, high-stress military equipment, as well as molds, mechanical equipment, and tooling fixtures. In the T651 state, 7075 aluminum alloy rods have an elastic modulus of 71 GPa, a hardness of 150 HB, and a density of 2.81 g/cm³. The material undergoes grain refinement and pre-stretching processes to enhance drilling performance and tool wear resistance. The fine grains result in better deep drilling performance, and it possesses moderate corrosion resistance and anodizing capability.
7075 aluminum alloy rod bars are available in diameters ranging from 0.5 to 600 mm, with lengths customizable up to 8000 mm. 7075 aluminum alloy is a cold-workable forging alloy with higher strength than mild steel, and is one of the commercially available alloys.
Features of 7075 aluminum alloy rod bars:
1. 7075 aluminum alloy rod bars are high-strength heat-treatable alloys. 7075-T651 is a common heat-treated state of 7075 aluminum alloy, exhibiting high strength among aluminum alloys, exceeding that of many mild steels.
2. 7075 aluminum alloy rod bars possess good mechanical properties, with a tensile strength reaching 572 MPa, high yield ratio, and high specific strength. However, its ductility and high-temperature strength are generally average, making it suitable for load-bearing structural components used at room temperature and below 120°C.
3. Good usability.
4. 7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is easy to machine and has good wear resistance, but due to its high hardness (HB150), it requires special processing techniques, such as low-temperature, slow-speed cutting. Through fine-grain design, it offers better deep-drilling performance, enhanced tool wear resistance, and excellent thread rolling performance.
5. 7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar has general corrosion resistance, but surface treatments such as anodizing and micro-arc oxidation can achieve excellent oxidation resistance and surface hardness (e.g., the hardness of a micro-arc-oxidized ceramic layer can reach HV800), thus significantly improving its wear life.
6. The main alloying element of 7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is zinc, and the addition of magnesium forms a significantly strengthening MgZn2 phase, which is key to achieving ultra-high strength through heat treatment.
Applications of 7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar:
7075 Aluminum Alloy Rod Bar is used in the aerospace field to manufacture aircraft structures, high-stress structural components, missile components, and propeller components.
In the mold and tooling manufacturing industry, 7075 aluminum alloy rod bars are used for high-strength molds, tooling fixtures, and high-strength components.
In the high-end sporting goods industry, 7075 aluminum alloy rod bars are used in baseball bats, golf clubs, hiking quickdraws, ski poles, racing bicycles, tennis rackets, and badminton rackets; for example, using 7075 aluminum rods in baseball bats can reduce weight by 15-20% compared to traditional materials, while increasing the sweet spot strength by more than 30%.
Furthermore, in transportation and other industrial sectors, 7075 aluminum rods are used in truck wheels, bearings, gears, and high-strength components for buses.
