ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar
ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is a type of low-carbon structural steel angle produced in accordance with the ASTM A36/A36M standard. It features a yield strength of at least 250 MPa and is available in both Steel Equal Angle and Unequal Angle Steel Bar; it is widely used in construction, bridges, and general steel structures.
Description
ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is a type of low-carbon structural steel angle produced in accordance with the ASTM A36/A36M standard. It features a yield strength of at least 250 MPa and is available in both Steel Equal Angle and Unequal Angle Steel Bar; it is widely used in construction, bridges, and general steel structures.
Characteristics of ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar:
ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is a low-carbon structural steel offering moderate strength and excellent welding and machining properties. It is a cost-effective, general-purpose structural steel commonly used for building frames, bridges, and machinery supports.
1. Mechanical Properties: ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar has a yield strength of ≥250 MPa and a tensile strength of 400–550 MPa, with an elongation after fracture of ≥20%. It possesses good toughness, allowing it to absorb energy under load and resist brittle fracture.
2. Good Workability: With a low carbon content (≤0.25%), it offers excellent weldability; preheating is generally not required for standard thicknesses prior to welding. It is also easy to cut, drill, bend, and punch.
3. Specification Range: ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is available in sizes ranging from 20×20×3 mm to 200×200×24 mm for equal-leg angles, as well as unequal-leg angles, meeting various load-bearing requirements.
Applications of ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar:
ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is primarily used as a load-bearing component and connecting element in architectural and engineering structures. Thanks to its excellent weldability, workability, and cost-effectiveness, it is widely applied in various steel structure scenarios.
1. Construction and Bridges: ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is used for steel frames, beams, columns, bracing, and purlins, as well as in bridge main girders and cross-beams. It is a preferred material for welded and bolted structures in both industrial and civil construction.
2. Machinery Manufacturing: ASTM A36 Angle Steel Bar is used to fabricate low-load components such as machinery frames, bases, and gear blanks, as well as supports for hoisting and transport machinery and other equipment. 3. Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering: ASTM A36 angle steel bars are used for secondary hull structures, superstructures, and internal compartment components; following anti-corrosion treatment, they are also suitable for offshore platform structures.
4. Power Transmission Towers and Vessel Supports: ASTM A36 angle steel bars serve as supporting frameworks and connecting components for power transmission towers, reaction towers, vessel supports, warehouse racking, and more.
5. Export Projects: Steel structure and equipment projects exported from China to North America frequently specify this American standard grade directly in orders.
