Description

Stainless steel threaded rods (also known as fully threaded rods or threaded bars) are headless cylindrical fasteners made of stainless steel such as 304, 316, and 201. They conform to international and national standards such as DIN975 and GB15389, and are available in various diameters and lengths from M3 to M24. They are widely used in fields with high requirements for corrosion resistance and hygiene, such as building curtain walls, pipe supports, medical devices, food processing equipment, and marine engineering.

Features of Stainless Steel Threaded Rods:

1. Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel threaded rods rely on a chromium oxide protective layer formed by chromium, providing significantly stronger rust resistance than carbon steel in humid, chemical, and marine environments. Furthermore, surface rust is mostly shallow red rust, which does not easily penetrate into the substrate.

2. Good Mechanical Strength and Toughness: Stainless Steel Threaded Rods are commonly available in performance grades A2-70 or A4-70 (tensile strength approximately 700 MPa). While they cannot achieve the ultra-high strength of grade 10.9 through heat treatment like carbon steel, they possess sufficient yield strength and ductility, making them suitable for most conventional fastening applications.

3. Hygiene and Temperature Resistance: Stainless Steel Threaded Rods have a smooth surface that is easy to clean, eliminating the risk of plating peeling and meeting hygiene standards in the food, medical, and pharmaceutical industries. Some martensitic stainless steel materials (such as 410) also exhibit good heat resistance and wear resistance.

4. Fully Threaded Design: Stainless Steel Threaded Rods are fully threaded throughout, with no smooth section. Custom lengths are available (commonly 1 to 3 meters), facilitating flexible cutting and multi-point fixing.

5. No surface treatment required: Stainless steel threaded rods typically retain their natural metallic color, eliminating the need for galvanizing or chrome plating and preventing contamination or failure caused by plating peeling.

6. Machinability: Compliant with standards such as DIN 976 and GB 15389, thread tolerances are mostly 6g, offering good screw-in properties. However, due to the cold work hardening characteristics of stainless steel, torque must be controlled during installation to prevent breakage.

Applications of Stainless Steel Threaded Rods:

1. Thick-walled connection: Stainless steel threaded rods are specifically designed for connecting parts where one component is thick and a compact structure is required. One end screws into the base material, and the other end is secured with a nut.

2. Frequent disassembly: Because it does not damage the internal threads of the base material, stainless steel threaded rods are suitable for equipment maintenance scenarios requiring frequent disassembly and assembly.

3. Adaptability to special spaces: The headless design allows it to be embedded in narrow spaces or used as a transition piece to connect components of different materials.

4. Injection Molding and Extrusion Machinery: As a core component of the screw, Stainless Steel Threaded Rods are used to process plastics such as PC and PVC, requiring wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

5. Pump and Valve Systems: Used as valve stems or drive rods, utilizing the heat-treated hardness of martensitic stainless steel (such as 416) to ensure sealing and operational accuracy.

6. Pipe and Flange Fixing: Stainless Steel Threaded Rods, used with nuts, tightly connect pipes, valves, or flanges, commonly found in chemical and food processing pipelines.

7. Thread Repair and Reinforcement: On soft materials such as aluminum and magnesium alloys, used with threaded inserts, they can repair stripped holes or improve connection strength.

8. Adjustment and Support: Used as adjusting rods, booms, or supports in mechanical equipment, allowing for height or position adjustment through rotation.

9. Harsh Environment Operations: 316/316L threaded rods are widely used in marine platforms, aerospace, and medical devices, resisting salt spray and acid/alkali corrosion.
