Chequered steel plate, also known as diamond steel plate, Checkered Steel Plate, is a type of steel plate with raised (or recessed) diamond, lentil, or bean-shaped patterns on its surface.
Chequered steel plate combines anti-slip, wear-resistant, load-bearing, and decorative functions, and is widely used in industrial, transportation, construction, and decoration fields.
Features of Chequered Steel Plate:
1. Excellent Anti-slip Performance: The raised patterns on the surface of chequered steel plate significantly increase friction, making it suitable for slippery or high-safety environments such as treads, escalators, decks, and workshop floors; the pattern height is typically ≥20% of the base plate thickness.
2. Combining Structure and Decoration: While improving local rigidity, it retains an aesthetically pleasing texture. Common materials for chequered steel plate are carbon steel or stainless steel, with thicknesses typically ranging from 2.0–8 mm (6–12 mm for paving/engineering applications).
3. Durable and Easy to Maintain: Chequered steel plate is pressure-resistant, impact-resistant, and has a relatively easy-to-clean surface. It is delivered in hot-rolled condition and does not require special coatings to provide a certain degree of weather resistance (stainless steel types are even more corrosion-resistant).
4. Steel Saving: The patterned structure allows for a thinner substrate while maintaining strength, achieving weight reduction in some applications compared to flat steel plates.
Applications of Chequered Steel Plate:
1. Industrial Platforms and Safety Access: Used in factory workshops, equipment operating platforms, stair treads, maintenance walkways, and aerial work platforms. The high-friction surface of the chequered steel plate prevents slipping, making it particularly suitable for oily, humid, or heavy-load environments.
2. Transportation: Chequered steel plates are used in trucks, construction vehicles, train carriages, ship decks, and vehicle chassis to improve cargo slip resistance and personnel safety. They are also commonly used in ports, docks, and piers to address slippery conditions and heavy loads.
3. Building Structures: Chequered steel plates are used as stair treads, ramps, foundation pit steps, and bridge maintenance access, balancing structural strength and slip resistance requirements. They are also used in some building facades or decorative cladding (such as elevator cars and handrails).
4. Warehousing and Logistics: Enhanced wear resistance and slip resistance for bottom racks, forklift aisles, and logistics sorting platforms; lightweight patterned steel plates are also gradually being used for new energy battery pallets to improve assembly safety.
5. Special Scenarios: Mining machinery treads, offshore platforms, chemical plant areas (often equipped with stainless steel or galvanized materials for corrosion protection), temporary construction roads/paving slabs (reusable and impact-resistant).
