CK45 Honed Steel Tube uses 45# steel as its base material, a carbon structural steel with a moderate carbon content that balances strength and toughness.

CK45 Honed Steel Tube undergoes a honing process to achieve a high surface finish and dimensional accuracy on the inner wall of the tube. The honing process uses tools such as a grinding stone to micro-cut the inner wall of the tube, removing machining marks left by previous processes and creating a uniform cross-weave pattern that facilitates lubricant storage and distribution.

The manufacturing process for CK45 Honed Steel Tube consists of several key steps:

First, qualified 45# steel tube billets are selected and formed by cold drawing or hot rolling to meet basic dimensional requirements;

Then, normalizing or quenching and tempering treatments are performed to improve the material’s mechanical properties;

Finally, a honing process is performed to achieve the required inner bore accuracy and surface quality. The entire process requires strict control of temperature, speed, and abrasive parameters to ensure consistent final product quality.

CK45 Honed Steel Tube features a smooth, dimensionally stable inner wall, a low coefficient of friction, and excellent wear resistance. Its cross-grained structure effectively maintains a lubricating film, reduces direct contact between moving parts, and prolongs service life. The 45 steel base provides sufficient strength and hardness, making it suitable for medium loads and reciprocating motion.

CK45 Honed Steel Tube is commonly used in the manufacture of cylinder barrels for hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic cylinders, injection molding machines, and other equipment. In these applications, the tubing serves as a guide and seal for piston movement, and its precision directly impacts the equipment’s efficiency and reliability. For example, in the hydraulic systems of construction machinery, honed tubing ensures smooth cylinder operation and sealing performance.

Compared to ordinary seamless steel tubes and cold-drawn tubes, CK45 Honed Steel Tube boasts higher precision; however, compared to stainless steel honed tubes, its corrosion resistance is weaker, so the choice depends on the environment. The weldability of 45 steel is average, so preheating is required if welding is required.
