Description
Galvanized steel strip is a corrosion-resistant metal material made from cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel strip as the base material, coated with a zinc layer through hot-dip galvanizing (or electroplating). Its core characteristics are excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, and structural strength.
We can produce and supply galvanized steel strips, galvanized steel coils, aluminized zinc steel coils, and color-coated steel coils of various specifications and grades. Welcome to inquire at any time, and we will give you the best price and service.
Features of Galvanized Steel Strip:
1. Strong Corrosion Resistance: The zinc layer of Galvanized Steel Strip delays steel base corrosion through a dual mechanism of barrier protection and sacrificial anodic electrochemical protection. The corrosion rate in the atmosphere is approximately 1/15 that of steel. Hot-dip galvanized coatings (typically ≥50–275 g/m²) are thicker and have stronger adhesion, suitable for outdoor/humid environments.
2. Good Processing Performance: Cold-rolled galvanized strip (such as DX51D, SGCC grades) has an elongation of 10%–30%, allowing for stamping, bending, and coiling. Hot-dip galvanized surfaces have adjustable zinc spangles (smooth/no spangle), suitable for painting or deep drawing requirements, but the alloyed layer (GA) offers superior weldability.
3. High Mechanical Strength: Galvanized Steel Strip typically boasts a tensile strength of 600–1000 MPa (especially for packing straps), with a thickness ranging from 0.13–4 mm and a width of 50–600 mm, balancing lightweight design with load-bearing capacity.
4. Uniform and Smooth Surface: Hot-dip galvanizing produces zinc flowers (which can be controlled to be small or non-existent), while electro-galvanizing results in a finer and smoother finish. Passivation or oiling treatments prevent white rust, and smooth edges reduce scratches during use.
5. Galvanized Steel Strip Processes: There are two main types: hot-dip galvanizing (thick zinc layer, durable, moderate cost, mainly used in construction/automotive/packaging); electro-galvanizing (thin, uniform coating, bright surface, mostly used in household appliances/precision parts). The former offers superior adhesion and scratch resistance, while the latter provides formability close to the original sheet.
Applications of Galvanized Steel Strip:
Galvanized Steel Strip is widely used in light steel framing, roofing/eaves, cable trays, appliance housings, automotive parts, cable armor, and industrial strapping (commonly 0.3–1.0 mm × 12–32 mm). It conforms to standards such as GB/T 2518, JIS G3302, and ASTM A653. The coating weight and grade (e.g., Z275, DX53D) determine its applicable application.
1. Construction Industry: Galvanized steel strip is used for light steel keels, roofing/wall/roller shutters, flood barriers, insulation pipe shells, cable trays, highway/railway guardrails, and photovoltaic brackets;
2. Home Appliance Manufacturing: Structural reinforcement and corrosion protection shells for refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, shower units, and other components;
3. Automotive Industry: Mudguards, fuel tanks, water tanks, garage doors, chassis guards, luggage racks, and other non-exposed structural components;
4. Industrial Packaging: Galvanized strapping (iron sheet strapping) is used for bundling and securing heavy objects such as wooden crates, steel coils, aluminum ingots, and cables;
5. Electrical and Communication: Armored cable sheaths, electrical cabinets, instrument panels, and power tower accessories;
6. Others: Bicycle parts, digital product shells, office furniture, steel-wood doors and windows, and railings (often used as the base material for “zinc-steel” profiles).
