Characteristics of Checkered Steel Coil:
1. Checkered steel coil has a regular embossed surface: textures such as bean patterns, diamonds, stripes, and round beans provide anti-slip or decorative relief. These are formed through hot rolling or cold rolling and are not naturally formed forging patterns within the material itself.
2. Checkered steel coil is mostly made of plain carbon steel or low-alloy steel, and does not contain high-carbon steel laminates or traditional patterned steel components such as wootz steel; some are made with galvanized or color-coated substrates (such as “patterned galvanized sheet”).
3. Its main uses are structural load-bearing and anti-slip: Checkered steel coil is used for platform treads, stairs, vehicle chassis, packaging boxes, shelves, and other applications requiring anti-slip properties or a certain level of rigidity. It is not used for cutting tools or high-strength, high-toughness components.
4. Checkered steel coil is typically ≥2.5mm thick and ≥600mm wide, supplied in coils (hot-rolled or cold-rolled), and can be slit. It lacks the characteristics of traditional patterned steel such as “refined layers” and “crystallization patterns.”
5. Performance depends on the base material: strength and corrosion resistance are determined by the material and surface treatment (galvanizing, color coating). Embossing itself does not improve mechanical properties, only locally increasing stiffness and friction.

1. Anti-slip treads and platforms: Checkered steel coil is used in applications such as elevator treads, stair treads, truck bed floors, ship decks, industrial platforms, and gas station ramps. The raised pattern significantly improves the dry/wet friction coefficient (≥0.65/≥0.42), preventing slips.
2. Building and decorative structures: Checkered steel coil is used for anti-slip paving in stair handrails, balcony railings, underground garage ramps, and urban renewal projects, providing both load-bearing and safety functions.
3. Transportation Components: New energy logistics vehicles, engineering vehicles, container flooring, railway maintenance platforms, etc., require lightweight and high wear resistance, often using high-strength base materials such as Q345B.
4. Equipment Manufacturing and Industrial Facilities: Such as track pads for engineering machinery, walkways for mining equipment, and maintenance access roads in chemical plants; some require corrosion resistance (e.g., 304 stainless steel patterned coils) or low-temperature toughness (09MnNiDR).
5. Decorative Structural Components: Some building facades, railings, and billboard base plates utilize their textures for visual decoration (but not their primary function).
