Description

Square steel pipe is a steel pipe with a square cross-section, mainly square seamless steel pipe, square welded steel pipe and square galvanized steel tube.

Features of Square Steel Pipes:

Square steel pipes are characterized by hollow square cross-sections with equal side lengths. They offer excellent bending and torsional resistance, are lightweight, easy to construct, and have a smooth surface that facilitates joint connections. However, their corrosion resistance depends on the material or surface treatment (such as galvanizing).

Excellent Cross-Sectional Performance: For the same cross-sectional area, square steel pipes have superior bending and torsional stiffness compared to round pipes, making them particularly suitable for planar load-bearing structures (such as trusses, frames, and supports). Joint connections are simpler and more stable.

2. Lightweight and High-Strength: The hollow design of square steel pipes saves approximately 30%–50% more material than solid square steel bar, resulting in a lighter weight for the same strength.

Diverse Manufacturing Processes: Available in welded square tubes (high-frequency/resistance welding, low cost, wide range of specifications) and seamless square tubes (hot-rolled/cold-drawn, high pressure resistance, no weld seams). 4. Surface Treatments for Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: Bare tubes require protection; hot-dip galvanized square steel pipes (zinc layer ≥60 g/m²) significantly improve outdoor rust resistance, while stainless steel square pipes (such as 304/316) are suitable for corrosive or clean environments.

5. High Dimensional Accuracy and Smooth Surface: Cold-bent welded pipes conform to GB/T 6728, with a bending degree ≤2 mm/m. Edges can be right angles (R angle ≤ wall thickness) or rounded corners, suitable for machining and assembly.
