12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube
12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel tube. Its core characteristic is the addition of titanium (Ti), which significantly outperforms 304 stainless steel tubes in terms of resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature performance. It is suitable for medium-to-high temperature corrosion environments ranging from 427 to 900℃.
Description
12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel tube. Its core characteristic is the addition of titanium (Ti), which significantly outperforms 304 stainless steel tubes in terms of resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature performance. It is suitable for medium-to-high temperature corrosion environments ranging from 427 to 900℃.
Features of 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube:
1. Chemical Composition and Stabilization Mechanism: 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube contains 17.0%–19.0% chromium, 9.0%–12.0% nickel, and ≥5% (usually ≥0.7%) titanium. Titanium preferentially forms TiC with carbon, inhibiting the precipitation of chromium carbide (Cr₂₃C₆) at grain boundaries in the sensitization temperature range (450–850℃), significantly improving resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring continued corrosion resistance after welding or high-temperature service.
2. Its breaking strength and creep resistance are significantly better than 304 stainless steel. Room temperature tensile strength ≥520 MPa, yield strength ≥205 MPa, and elongation ≥40%.
3. Corrosion resistance: 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube performs well in oxidizing media (such as nitric acid, steam, and atmosphere) and various organic/inorganic acids, but is not resistant to chloride-containing environments (such as seawater) and is prone to pitting corrosion; its corrosion resistance is slightly better than 304, but weaker than the molybdenum-containing 316 series.
4. Physical and processing properties: 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube has a density of approximately 8.03 g/cm³, is non-magnetic (austenitic structure); has good weldability (commonly uses ER321 welding wire, usually requiring no post-weld solution treatment); has good hot and cold formability, but is prone to hardening during machining, requiring low speed and high feed; requires solution treatment (1020–1100℃) or stabilization treatment (850–930℃) to optimize performance.
Applications of 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tubes:
1. Petrochemical industry (cracking furnace tubes, exhaust gas combustion pipes, heat exchangers)
2. Power boilers (superheated steam pipes, steam drums)
3. Aerospace (engine exhaust components, combustion chambers)
4. Pressure vessels and chemical transport equipment, diesel engine mufflers and expansion joints
5. 12X18N10T 321 Stainless Steel Tube is also used for structural components that cannot undergo post-weld heat treatment or for welded components that are exposed to 427–816℃ for extended periods.
Advantages of 12Х18Н10Т 321 Stainless Steel Tube:
12X18H10T 321 Stainless Steel Tube differs from 321H (high carbon version, carbon content 0.04%–0.10%), the latter being more suitable for long-term high-temperature creep resistance applications above 538℃.
Compared to 304 stainless steel pipe, 12X18H10T 321 Stainless Steel Tube is less prone to intergranular corrosion after welding or exposure to medium to high temperatures, but its cost is slightly higher (due to higher nickel and titanium content).
12X18H10T 321 Stainless Steel Tube conforms to standards including GB/T 14976, ASME SA249, and JIS G4305, and is commonly found as seamless pipe (outer diameter 0.4–219 mm), requiring inspections such as hydrostatic testing, flaring, and microstructure analysis.
