6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe
6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is a heat-treated (T6 temper) aluminum alloy tubing belonging to the Al-Mg-Si alloy series. Combining good strength, excellent corrosion resistance, outstanding weldability, and superb surface treatment properties (such as anodizing), 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is one of the most widely used aluminum alloy materials in industrial and construction fields.
Description
6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is a heat-treated (T6 temper) aluminum alloy tubing belonging to the Al-Mg-Si alloy series, includes aluminum round tubes, square aluminum pipes and Extruded Aluminum Tube. Combining good strength, excellent corrosion resistance, outstanding weldability, and superb surface treatment properties (such as anodizing), 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is one of the most widely used aluminum alloy materials in industrial and construction fields.
Characteristics of 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe:
6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is an Al-Mg-Si heat-treatable wrought aluminum alloy, with magnesium (0.45%–0.9%) and silicon (0.20%–0.6%) as the main alloying elements. After solution heat treatment followed by artificial aging (T6 temper), it possesses moderate strength, excellent formability, good corrosion resistance, and outstanding surface treatment properties.
1. Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength ≥ 205 MPa, yield strength ≥ 180 MPa, elongation ≥ 8%. Strength is higher than T5 but lower than 6061 T6 Aluminum Pipe.
2. Processing and Forming: 6063 T6 aluminum pipe has excellent extrusion performance, suitable for manufacturing thin-walled pipes with complex cross-sections; good machinability and weldability (argon arc welding/spot welding), but attention should be paid to the decrease in strength in the heat-affected zone after welding.
3. Corrosion Resistance and Surface: No tendency for stress corrosion cracking, resistant to atmospheric and aqueous corrosion; easily anodized, with uniform coloring, strong decorative properties, and high surface finish.
4. Density and Physical Properties: Density approximately 2.7 g/cm³, thermal conductivity ~167 W/(m·K), elastic modulus ~69 GPa.
Applications of 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe:
6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is primarily used for medium-load structural and decorative components requiring a balance of strength, corrosion resistance, surface finish, and extrudability. Typical applications include architectural profiles (door, window, and curtain wall frames), industrial supports, railings, furniture, elevator components, irrigation pipes, automated machinery parts, electronic heat dissipation/structural components, and lightweight decorative parts.
1. Architecture and Decoration: 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is used for doors, windows, curtain walls, railings, handrails, and decorative moldings (easy to anodize and color, with a smooth surface).
2. Industrial Structures: 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is used for platforms, supports, elevator rails, and vehicle/equipment frames (T6 tensile strength ≥205 MPa, balancing strength and formability).
3. Electronics and Heat Dissipation: 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is used for heat sinks, housings, SMT solder carriers, and instrument brackets (good thermal conductivity, precision machinable).
4. Light Industry and General Use: 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is used for furniture components, agricultural irrigation pipes, small drive shafts/guide rods, and communication equipment mounting components.
5. Special Applications: 6063 T6 Aluminum Pipe is used for non-load-bearing mounting components in aerospace/marine applications and medical/optical equipment brackets (requiring high surface quality and corrosion resistance).
Note: 6063-T6 has lower strength than 6061-T6 and is not suitable for high-stress load-bearing structures; its core advantages lie in its excellent extrusion formability, weldability, and decorative surface treatment capabilities.
