Hot Rolled Steel Coil
Hot rolled steel coil (HRC), that is, hot-rolled steel coil, uses slabs (mainly continuous cast slabs) as raw materials, and is heated and made into strips through rough rolling units and finishing rolling units. The hot steel strip coming out of the last rolling mill of finishing rolling is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow, and is rolled into a steel strip coil by the coiler. The cooled steel strip is coiled.
Description
Hot rolled steel coil (HRC), that is, hot-rolled steel coil, uses slabs (mainly continuous cast slabs) as raw materials, and is heated and made into strips through rough rolling units and finishing rolling units. The hot steel strip coming out of the last rolling mill of finishing rolling is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow, and is rolled into a steel strip coil by the coiler. The cooled steel strip is coiled.
Classification of Hot Rolled Steel Coil:
1. Hot Rolled Steel Coil can be divided into straight curls and styled curls (parted curls, flat curls and split curls).
2. Hot-rolled steel coils can be divided into ordinary carbon structural steel coils, low alloy steel coils and alloy steel coils according to material and performance.
3. According to different uses, it can be divided into: cold forming steel, structural steel, automobile structural steel, corrosion-resistant structural steel, mechanical structural steel, gas cylinder and pressure vessel steel, pipe steel, etc.
Applications of Hot Rolled Steel Coil:
Hot rolled steel coil is widely used in basic industrial fields such as construction, automotive, machinery, shipbuilding, energy pipelines, and home appliances due to its high strength, good formability, and cost advantages.
1. Building Structures: Hot rolled steel coil is used as the base material for steel frames in high-rise buildings, bridge components, scaffolding, formwork, cold-formed steel, and welded steel pipes.
2. Automotive Manufacturing: High-strength hot rolled coil contributes to lightweighting in load-bearing components such as frame longitudinal/crossbeams, body panels, wheels, and chassis (especially in trucks and commercial vehicles).
3. Machinery and Pressure Vessels: Hot rolled steel coil is used for structural components requiring certain strength and weldability, such as engineering machinery parts, boilers, storage tanks, and oil-gas separators.
4. Energy and Pipelines: Used in applications requiring weather resistance/corrosion resistance, such as oil and gas pipelines (e.g., the West-East Gas Pipeline project), offshore platforms, and derricks.
5. Shipbuilding and Containers: Hot-rolled steel coil is used for ship decks and frames, and for shipping container frames and panels.
6. Home Appliances and Hardware: Some casings and structural components (most requiring subsequent pickling or galvanizing), also serving as the core base material for cold-rolled steel coil, galvanized steel sheet, and color-coated sheet.
7. Deep-processing Raw Materials: Approximately 60% or more is used in the production of hot-rolled pickled coils, cold-rolled steel coils, galvanized steel sheets, etc., supporting downstream high-value-added manufacturing.
