Description

Cold rolled stainless steel sheet is a thin sheet material produced from hot-rolled stainless steel sheet through multiple rolling, annealing, pickling, and finishing processes at room temperature. It features thinness (typically 0.1–6.0 mm), high dimensional accuracy (±0.01 mm), smooth and fine surface finish (such as 2B, BA, brushed finish), and high strength and hardness (due to work hardening). However, its plasticity and torsional strength are slightly lower than those of hot-rolled stainless steel sheet.

Characteristics of Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheet:

1. High dimensional accuracy and thinness: Typical thickness range is 0.1–6.0 mm, with thickness tolerances reaching ±0.01–0.02 mm, far superior to hot-rolled stainless steel sheet.

2. Excellent surface quality: Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheets can achieve various finishes such as 2B Finish Stainless Steel Sheet (general bright), BA (bright annealed high reflectivity), No.4 (brushed), and HL (hairline finish), with roughness Ra values as low as 0.05–0.5 μm.

3. Improved mechanical properties: Due to work hardening, Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheets have higher strength and hardness than their hot-rolled counterparts, but ductility and toughness need to be restored through annealing; suitable for components requiring high strength and precision forming (such as household appliances, medical devices, and automotive trim).

4. Retained corrosion resistance: Cold rolled stainless steel sheets inherit the corrosion resistance of the base material (such as 304 stainless steel sheet, 316 stainless steel sheet, etc.) through a surface chromium passivation film, but the cold rolling process does not change the essential alloy composition.

5. Straight sheet shape and no oxide scale: After pickling and leveling processes, the surface is clean and free of hot-rolled iron oxide scale, suitable for subsequent electroplating, coating, or direct use.

Applications of Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheet:

1. Home Appliances and Kitchen & Bath: Cold rolled stainless steel sheet is used in refrigerator and washing machine inner/outer shells, stoves, sinks, and commercial kitchen equipment (such as steam ovens and cutting boards). It commonly uses 304/201 stainless steel sheet grade steel, with surfaces often finished as 2B, BA, or brushed.

2. Building Decoration: Cold rolled stainless steel sheet is used in curtain walls, elevator car walls, handrails, door frames, and ceilings. It commonly uses 316L stainless steel sheet (coastal/high corrosion resistant), 430 stainless steel sheet, or 2B/HL surfaces, with thicknesses typically ranging from 1.5–4.0 mm.

3. Automotive Industry: Exhaust system tailpipes, decorative strips, fuel tank protectors, and new energy battery casings (partial structures), requiring good formability and heat and corrosion resistance.

4. Medical Devices and Food Processing: Surgical instrument trays, oxygen concentrator casings, storage tanks, and pipelines (requiring medical-grade 316L or 304 stainless steel with passivated surface treatment), emphasizing biological properties. Compatibility and easy cleaning;

5. Chemicals and Containers: Cold rolled stainless steel sheet is used in various applications. Rolled stainless steel sheets are used for reactor linings, storage tanks, tank containers (TISCO holds over 80% of the domestic market share), and pharmaceutical equipment; 316/316L steel is commonly used for pitting corrosion resistance.

6. Electronics and Precision Manufacturing: Mobile phone frames (some high-end models), metal stamping parts, spring components (high-strength martensitic or precipitation-hardening cold-rolled strip), thickness typically <1.0mm;

7. Transportation and Environmental Protection: Cold rolled stainless steel sheets are used in rail transit interiors, ship components (non-seawater contact areas), desulfurization units, and environmental protection equipment, balancing lightweight and weather resistance.
