Steel Bulb Flats
Steel Bulb Flats are a special type of profile steel, consisting of a flat web and a spherical head. Steel Bulb Flats are asymmetrical and primarily used in shipbuilding and bridge construction. With the rapid development of the shipbuilding industry in recent years, Bulb Flat Bar have become a specific designation for marine bulb flats, making them the most important type of marine steel. They are primarily used as reinforcements in ship plates. Domestic bulb flat production primarily adheres to the GB/T9945-2012 “Hot-rolled bulb flats,” with a few companies also using the European standard EN10067:1996 “Hot-rolled bulb flats: Dimensions, Shapes, Weights and Permissible Deviations.” Other similar standards include JIS G3192 and ISO 657-19.
Description
Steel Bulb Flats, also as known Bulb Flat Bars, Hot Rolled Bulb Flat Bars, are a special type of profile steel, consisting of a flat web and a spherical head. Steel Bulb Flats are asymmetrical and primarily used in shipbuilding and bridge construction.
With the rapid development of the shipbuilding industry in recent years, Steel Bulb Flats have become a specific designation for marine bulb flats, making them the most important type of marine steel.
Steel Bulb Flats are primarily used as reinforcements in shipbuilding steel plates.
Domestic Steel Bulb Flats production primarily adheres to the GB/T9945-2012 “Hot-rolled bulb flats,” also using the European standard EN10067:1996 “Hot-rolled bulb flats: Dimensions, Shapes, Weights and Permissible Deviations.” Other similar standards include JIS G3192 and ISO 657-19.
Classification of Steel Bulb Flats:
Steel Bulb Flats are generally categorized by nominal width, with the smallest size being 8# (i.e., a nominal width of 80mm) and the largest being 43# (a maximum nominal width of 430mm). Each size is available in two to five different thicknesses.
The material of Steel Bulb Flats corresponds to the ship plate, and is divided into general strength (Grade A, B and D, etc.) and high strength (AH32, AH36, DH32 and DH36, etc.). Ship plates certified by different classification societies require the use of bulb flat steel certified by different classification societies.
