Description

Stainless steel coils are supplied in rolls (for easy continuous processing), unlike stainless steel sheets; common thicknesses are 0.1–15 mm, widths 500–2000 mm, conforming to standards such as GB/T 4237 and ASTM A240. Composite coils are used for cost-effective and corrosion-resistant applications (pressure vessels, pipelines). Ultra-thin cold-rolled coils (≤0.1 mm) are used in electronics, batteries, and watch straps; thicker coils are mostly used for structural applications or as reprocessing blanks.

Classification of Stainless Steel Coils:

1. By microstructure: Austenitic Stainless Steel Coils (304 Stainless Steel Coil, 316L, non-magnetic/weakly magnetic, good corrosion resistance), Ferritic Stainless Steel Coils (430, 409, magnetic, resistant to chloride stress corrosion), Martensitic Stainless Steel Coils (420, 440C, high hardness and high strength, quenchable), Duplex Stainless Steel Coils (2205 Stainless Steel Sheet, high strength, resistant to pitting corrosion).

2. By process: Hot-rolled Stainless Steel Coil (thickness ≥ 1.5mm, surface finish No.1, used for industrial tanks and raw materials); Cold-rolled Stainless Steel Coil (thickness ≤ 4mm, surface finish 2B/BA, etc., used for precision stamping, decoration, and kitchenware).

3. By surface finish: No.1 (hot-rolled pickled, rough finish), 2D (cold-rolled pickled, matte finish), 2B (cold-rolled + light-rolled, general purpose), BA (bright annealed, high reflectivity), HL (brushed, decorative finish), 8K (mirror finish, high-end decoration).

Typical grade applications: 304 Stainless Steel Sheet (food/chemical equipment), 316L Stainless Steel Sheet (marine/medical, stronger corrosion resistance due to Mo content), 201/202 (low-cost decorative parts), 430 (appliance panels, automotive trim), 310S Stainless Steel Coil (high-temperature furnace parts, resistant to temperatures above 1100℃).

Applications of Stainless Steel Coil:

Stainless steel coil (cold-rolled/hot-rolled coil) is widely used in chemical, food, construction, machinery, electronics, transportation, and medical fields due to its corrosion resistance, high strength, ease of forming, and aesthetically pleasing surface.

1. Chemical and Energy: Used in reaction vessels, storage tanks, pipelines (especially 316/316L, resistant to chloride corrosion), oil refining, and pharmaceutical equipment, due to its resistance to acids, alkalis, and high-temperature oxidation.

2. Food and Beverage: Stainless steel coil is used to manufacture processing equipment, storage and transportation containers, and tableware (such as 304/304L), meeting hygiene standards, easy to clean, and resistant to disinfection.

3. Construction and Decoration: Curtain walls, elevator cars, handrails, door frames (commonly 2B, BA, HL, or 8K surfaces), balancing structural integrity and aesthetics; patterned coils are used for anti-slip treads.

4. Machinery and Hardware: Stamped parts, precision parts, springs, watch straps (ultra-thin cold-rolled coils such as 0.05–0.5mm), suitable for automated and high-precision manufacturing.

5. Home Appliances and Kitchenware: Stainless steel coil for cooktops, sinks, oven liners, and water heaters (mainly 304), resistant to steam and oil stains.

6. Transportation: Automotive exhaust systems (409/430 ferritic), rail vehicle interior trim, and marine components (resistant to salt spray environments).

7. Electronics and Power: Shielding components, brackets, and battery casings (high surface quality cold-rolled coils), some requiring non-magnetic properties (austenitic, such as 304).

8. Medical Devices and Equipment: Surgical instruments, catheters, and stents (304L/316L, hypoallergenic, weldable, and resistant to body fluid corrosion), conforming to standards such as ISO 13485.

Different grades (such as 201/304/316/430/310S) are selected according to corrosion resistance, strength or temperature requirements; thickness ranges from 0.02 mm (precision electronics) to 15 mm (industrial structures), and the shape is suitable for continuous processing of coil materials (slitting, stamping, welding) or flattening into stainless steel sheets.

2B	The surface brightness and flatness of no2B is better than no2D. then through a special surface treatment to improve its mechanical properties,No2B could nearly satisfy comprehensive uses.
No.1	Polished with abrasive belt of grit#100-#200, have better brightness with discontinuous coarse stria, used as inner and external ornaments for building, electrical appliances and kitchen utensils etc.
